Ireland launches the National Cyber Security Strategy 2030
Ireland launched its new National Cyber Security Strategy 2030 on 7 October 2026, setting out plans to strengthen the country's protection against growing digital threats.
The strategy replaces Ireland's 2019 cybersecurity strategy and includes 29 actions across three key areas: detecting and defending against cyber threats, strengthening the resilience of public services and critical infrastructure, and growing Ireland’s cybersecurity sector.
Key initiatives include a National Detection Network, a central National Cyber Hub, and a new cybersecurity research centre.
The government is also progressing the National Cyber Security Bill, which will transpose the EU's NIS2 Directive into Irish law and strengthen cybersecurity supervision and enforcement.
